The free, cloud-based Urban-Nexus Environmental Assessment Tool (U-NEAT+) offers an easy way to assess a range of potential environmental threats and sensitivities and suggests how to mitigate them. Assessments are recorded in an online questionnaire that can be completed with a smartphone.
The NEAT+ is a project-level screening tool, specifically designed for situations of displacement, which combines environmental data with site-specific and activity-based questions to automatically analyze and flag priority environmental risks. This allows the users and organizations to understand environmental sensitivities, mitigate risks, and find opportunities to collaborate on greener humanitarian operations.
The tool’s special features dive deeper into specific response areas such as shelter, food security, health, livelihoods, and water, sanitation and hygiene.
Global Forest Watch (GFW) is an online platform that provides data and tools for monitoring forests. By harnessing cutting-edge technology, GFW allows anyone to access near real-time information about where and how forests are changing around the world.
A virtual time machine that maps the location and temporal distribution of water surfaces at the global scale over the past 3.7 decades, and provides statistics on their extent and change to support better informed water-management decision-making.
The GHG Emissions Calculation Tool is a free, Excel-based tool from Greenhouse Gas Protocol and WRI that helps companies estimate their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions based on the GHG Protocol. It offers users a step-by-step process to estimate company emissions for specific cross-sectoral emissions sources. Detailed instructions for use and examples of calculations are provided throughout the tool for ease of use. The tool does not cover all potential GHG emissions sources within a company’s inventory boundary. In order to ensure an accurate, complete, consistent, relevant, and transparent GHG inventory, please refer to additional sector-specific calculation tools on the GHG Protocol calculation tools page, to The WRI/Quantis Scope 3 Evaluator tool for estimating scope 3 emissions, and other GHG calculation tools for additional GHG sources as needed.

The Half-Earth Map visualizes data that can help us identify which places are home to the greatest variety of life. The latest iteration includes new features such as dynamic descriptions of an area’s habitat type, a ‘species to watch’ radar, and adjustments to the 3D view. Together these features offer deeper insight and a more immersive experience. In time, as more data and features are added, the Half-Earth Map will become a tool that experts can use to identify and select which places to preserve for nature.
Light pollution in urban centers creates a sky glow that can blot out the stars. The brighter the area in this zoomable map, the harder it is to see stars and constellations in the night sky.
