Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)

a process of evaluating the likely environmental impacts of a proposed project or development, taking into account inter-related socio-economic, cultural and human-health impacts, both beneficial and adverse.

Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA)

a process for predicting and assessing the potential environmental and social impacts of a proposed project, evaluating alternatives and designing appropriate mitigation, management and monitoring measures.

Land Module

an analytical summary of physical investigation of factors related to land aspects within the scope of the project. Assessment and management of sustainability of the land is included in this module.

Hydrogeological study

a study of groundwater flow, the chemical properties of ground water, and transport of particles, solutes, and energy, as well as the management of the sustainable use of ground water resources, to prevent clean ground water from becoming polluted or to restore formerly clean water supplies that have become polluted and need to be cleaned up.

Geological study

a systematic investigation of the geology beneath a given piece of ground for the purpose of creating a geological map or model.

Land Use and Pedology

involves the management and modification of natural environment or wilderness into built environment such as settlements and semi-natural habitats such as arable fields, pastures, and managed woods.

Terrestrial Ecology – Flora and Fauna Assessment

Terrestrial ecology is the study of land-based ecosystems, their populations and communities of plants, animals, and microbes, their interactions with the atmosphere and with streams and groundwater, and their role in the cycling of energy, water, and the major biogeochemical elements such as carbon and nitrogen.

A Flora and Fauna Assessment Report identifies all potential species located on the subject site and where applicable surrounds. This report is used to determine the potential impacts of a proposed development on the identified species.

Water Module

a critical assessment of physical and chemical properties of water, other bodies of water and biodiversity in the water. This also involves mitigation and sustainability plan during and after the project construction.

Hydrological Study

the study of water on and beneath the earth’s surface, with regards to its occurrence, distribution, movement and properties as well as its relationship with the environment within each phase of the water cycle.

Freshwater and Marine Ecology

the study of natural populations of organisms in the water; the distribution and abundance of aquatic organisms, mostly fish, their prey and their predators, and their interactions with the environment.

Freshwater Ecology is concerned with bodies of water such as rivers, lakes, streams, and ponds.

Marine Ecology focuses on sea, oceans and bay.

Water Quality Assessment

the overall evaluation of
the physical, chemical and biological nature of the surface water and groundwater.

Air Module

the integration of meteorological and air conditions including, but not limited to, meteorology report, air and noise quality, and greenhouse gases (GHG) in the project area.

Meteorology Report

Meteorology is the study of the Earth’s atmosphere and the changes in temperature and moisture patterns that cause various weather situations.

A meteorology report contains analysis and discussion of the climatological data of a specific region which aims to identify possible effects of weather changes to the project.

Air Quality & Noise Level Monitoring

a systematic process of collecting and analyzing the air and noise data condition of a specific area to guide environmental management decisions of an operation.

GreenHouse Gas (GHG) Assessment

an analysis of greenhouse gas emissions and its effect to the environment at the project area.

People Module

an overview of possible socio-economic, health and traffic impacts of the project to the neighboring communities. Result and analysis of the perception survey is also included in this module.

Socioeconomic Assessment (SEIA)

helps understand the potential range of impacts of a proposed change, and the likely responses of those impacted if the change occurs.

Health Impact Assessment

estimation of the overall effects of a specified action on the health of a defined population. This is done to ensure that decision making at all levels consider the potential impacts of policies, programs or a project on health and health inequalities.

Traffic Studies

an engineering investigation to evaluate a specific area’s transportation system. The study is a means of identifying and documenting any deficiencies or improvements – both operational and physical – necessary to accommodate current or projected traffic volumes.

Indigenous People (IP) Consultation and Studies

the collective result of the survey and consultation of opinions of the indigenous people affected by the project.

Consultation and participation are important objectives in themselves, but are also the means through which indigenous peoples can fully participate in the decisions that affect them.

These consultations are usually part of the process for Free Prior Informed Consent (FPIC), in coordination with National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP).

Environmental Risk Assessment

a document that outlines the health risks associated with exposure to environmental contaminants at a project site, and provides the justification for taking action to remediate or remove the contamination.

Global Reporting Initiative

a report based on an international independent standard that helps businesses, governments and other organizations understand and communicate their impacts on global issues such as climate change, human rights and corruption.

Environmental Site Assessment (ESA)

the process of conducting “all appropriate inquiry” into the past or present uses of a property to determine whether the property is impacted by any environmental condition.

Environmental Compliance Audit

an evaluation of a company’s legal environmental requirements .and an assessment of how the company complies with those requirements.

Pollution Control Officer Assistance

inspects and investigates sources of pollution in order to protect the public and the surrounding environment and to ensure the conformance with regulations and ordinances.

Pollution Control Officers are responsible for examining and updating permits, licenses, applications and other records of compliance.

Watershed and Integrated Coastal Management

addresses the governance of human activities affecting the sustainable use of goods and services generated by coastal and marine ecosystems. This helps control pollution of the water and other natural resources in the watershed.

Solid Waste Management (SWM)

the discipline associated with control of generation, storage, collection, transport or transfer, processing and disposal of solid waste materials in a way that best addresses the range of public health, conservation, economic, aesthetic, engineering and other environmental considerations.

Environmental Compliance and Management

conforming to environmental laws, regulations, standards and other requirements such as site permits in order to proceed with commercial operations.
