JR and I had seen the need for our world to be sustainable. We see our planet as a beautiful world to be shared with future generations. We want our children to experience nature, culture, food and continue to progress economically, while at the same time preserving our resources. Hence, underneath all that we do is one central theme- sustainability.

After collaborating with colleagues who were also gang ho for change, with one mind, heart and soul, we decided to incorporate in 2015. JR and I were both 29 then, nine years married and stoked to make a positive impact.

From my previous full-time job in a market research firm, I used to meet with decision makers and project heads of both renewable and conventional energy advocates from the power sector, within the ASEAN region. I observed that one common bottleneck among our projects is the processing of permits and the conduct of assessment of environmental mitigations, especially with crucial activities such as those that are related to coal power and mining. It was from there that I carved out the first reason why I wanted to put up GreenDev, we want to be of SERVICE to this sector.

These days, when you mention “environmental and engineering consulting” to people in the power industry, you would probably hear “GreenDev” among the service providers that they’ll recall. To our pleasant surprise, they would especially recall the “JR and Kim tandem” who are business and life partners. JR is previously affiliated with an established environmental consulting firm and he carries with him his wide and deep experience in the different facets of the industry. His wide network and professionalism adds to the quality of service that we are able to provide even to our very first customers and that led us to our second why for continuing what we do with greater fervor- EXCELLENCE. We want to serve the people and our planet,  and to do all that we do with excellence.

As the rubber meets the road, we encountered some mud- it is true that graft and exploitation happens in the infrastructure and environmental sector. This led us to our third why and core value– INTEGRITY. We wanted to help our clients become genuinely environmentally-compliant with their engineering projects and at the same time keep ourselves aligned with our primary value, which is sustainability. It will be an irony to help them achieve compliance if we will have to violate government rules and regulations along the way. 

Service, excellence and integrity in the pursuit of sustainability– that’s what holds us together here at GreenDev.

We want to make sure that our values do not remain as mere words inscribed on a piece of paper, we want them to be felt in every project that we deliver and in each milestone that we accomplish. When we started helping clients reach very low to zero carbon footprint in the renewable energy sector, we began to realize that there is a greater need for environmental-compliance in the conventional energy sector. From there, we started expanding our services and expertise into the mining and conventional power industry. We make sure that the coal-fired and diesel-fired power plants of our client mining companies do not just simply comply with the country’s environmental laws and standards for the sake of compliance, but we also work our way to instilling in them the value of environmental and social preservation. Along the lines of doing so, we found ourselves serving those that need not just compliance to Philippine standards, but with the international standards as well. 

Through the years, we continue to deliver the same quality of service and even go beyond our duty to pursue our values. Our clients have been consistently pleased with the way we deliver, to the point that they become our brand advocates. Most of these brand advocates are bright engineers, scientists and professionals in the industry who make us believe in the tremendous talent and bigger potential of the Filipino people and inspire us to make the world see us in a better light.
