JR and Kim AbellaAn Evening of Modern Filipiniana Glamour
Our dearest guests (GreenDev’s family, friends, and industry supporters) have graced the event with their best Filipiniana and Barong outfits that seemingly takes you to an 18th century noble class gathering, more so paired with Privon Bistro’s intimate ancestral and rustic interior. Each variety and creativity turned the quest for Lakan and Lakambini ng Gabi titles into a tight competition. Eventually, Robert Biscocho with his stylish Barong Tagalog embellished with rose and butterfly brooches, and Trisha Mae Ramirez with her sustainable Katsa (cheesecloth) Filipiniana and ethnic coordinates have won the crowd not just with style, but also through their advocacies.

The 10-Year Retrospect
GreenDev’s President and CEO Kim Abella delivered her welcome remarks and reflection “In a Decade of Service;” across 21+ GW service in conventional and renewable energy, 150 clients and 213 projects; financial triumphs, advocacy to support the youth through student organizations like YAMAN PH and internship programs, GreenDev’s recent EMB accreditation as a registered EIA preparer, partnerships, among others. Kim likewise shared her humble beginnings and setbacks that served as inspiration, leading to where GreenDev is now as an industry trailblazer.
Pasimula: An Evening of Playful and Heartfelt Serenade
The celebration would not be complete without the voices that made the night more memorable. Present on the stage was Agung Dayaw Sicam, a young and multi-awarded classical guitarist, nephew of Kim and JR. He is a graduate of the Philippine High School for the Arts in Makiling. In 2021, he won First Prize in the National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA) Junior Guitar Category, as highlighted by Kabataang Gitarista. Agung has performed in various venues, including a solo recital for Kabataang Gitarista and as a member of Grupo Abecedario. He was a student of Dr. Ivar-Nicholas Fojas and has gained international recognition, receiving an Honorable Mention at the Asia International Guitar Festival and Competition in Bangkok, Thailand, and has competed at the SEA Guitar Competition in Jakarta, Indonesia. For his outro piece, he played “Pasimula” by the Makiling Ensemble in Kuglong or Boat Lute, a Manobo instrument, carved by his late father, music composer and educator, David Sicam.
Ella Yambao, a Registered Geologist and Geological Engineer and our very own from the Business Development Department, is not only accomplished in her field but also in the performing arts. During her stint in the Mapúan Cardinal Singers, her group won four gold medals at the Bali International Choir Festival and was qualified for the prestigious Grand Prix competition. She performed “Galawgaw,” a lively and playful Filipino novelty song popularized by Sylvia La Torre, recognized as the First Lady of Philippine Television. The title roughly translates to “restless,” “fidgety,” or “playfully mischievous,” Kim’s personal favorite, which she fondly recalls hearing it performed live by the UST Singers.
Maria Kishi Jamellah Abella, the eldest daughter of Kim and JR, is a multi-talented budding artist. A graduate of the Arts and Design Strand from De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde and an instrumentalist, Kishi sings and plays the guitar, piano, violin, and ukulele, and is a member of the band Sideffects. Beyond music, she is a gifted visual artist, created paintings, drawings, and even portrait souvenirs for this special event!
Katie Abella, sweet little darling of the crowd and youngest daughter of Kim and JR. Katie is a budding artist with a love for both music and visual arts. She often plays the drums and sings alongside her Ate Kishi and fills the house with her creations, working in various media including pastel, colored pencil, and watercolor. Her vibrant paintings and drawings reflect her growing talent and creativity. Katie performed her piece, “Zombie” by The Cranberries as a gift for Mom and Dad.
These performances weaved together music, memory, and heritage, reminding us that while Pasimula means a beginning, it also marks the opening of a new chapter in GreenDev’s journey.
Moving Forward
COO JR Abella closed the festivities with a heartwarming thank-you message for everyone who made it that night. Like Kim, he reflected on the past 10 years of wins and challenges and offered a positive outlook for GreenDev’s growth and stability.
He emphasized the collective malasakit that carried the company through tough times, reminding everyone that discipline, resilience, and unity remain key for the journey ahead. With humor, he also highlighted the role of AI in today’s world, joking about AI-generated speeches and noted two types of people with AI: those who depend on it, and those who use it to fuel their creativity.
JR closed with a rallying toast: “To the battles we’ve won, the lessons we’ve learned, and the battles still to come.”
